The URW Type Foundry first released the font in 1993, but only released one version. Then there is the Bauhaus 93, which is a variant of the URW Blippo Black. It was used by Nintendo as the title screen font for Super Mario Bros 1 and 2. It maintains the proportions and fit of the ITC Ronda. Taylor’s boss, Robert Trogman, named the font “Blippo Black”. The font was a black version of Burko Bold. In 1969, Joe Taylor designed the Blippo font as a variation of the Bauhaus font for Fotostar. The font was created at the Bauhaus school in Germany and has been used in advertising and logo design for decades. Bauhaus font is a typographic identity that Herbert Bayer developed from his experimental “Universal” typeface, which was published in 1925.
